Plainfield Road Plaza Metal Mansard Roof

The cedar shake roof covering on the Plainfield Road Plaza located at 2220 Plainfield Road was in urgent need of replacement. The wood shingles had dried out long ago, and an electrical fault in a storefront sign finished them off.

We contracted to tear off the wood roof and install a new 24 gauge standing seam steel roof covering. This job consisted of removing the existing shake roofing, installing a new layer of 30# roofing felt, Class A fire rated, of course, and a Class A roof covering. Metal was chosen for its fire rating as well as modern, updated look.

Picture 1: Thanks to U.L. fire rated materials, this buidling did not burn to the ground. The treated shingles burned a bit, as did the roofing felt, but no flames made it through to the roof deck. The Lockport Township Fire Department did a fine job on their end, too.

Picture 2: The roofing was removed, and dried-in with 30# U.L. Class A fire rated roofing felt. Here, you can see the roof edge trim detailing is done, and the metal roof panels are being installed in a hidden fastener configuration. This lessens the chances of roof failure sunbstantially.

Picture 3: After the shop-formed panels were installed, the hip caps and coping caps were shop-fabricated and installed on the batten-cap standing seam roof.

Picture 4: The signs are all back up and looking good. Customer is VERY happy with the results ans long-term value of our standing seam metal roofing system. His facade is visually modern and appealing, a stunning change from the old.

This roof is warranted for ten years on our crafstmanship and carries a 25 year warranty on the finish.
