Lemont, IL - Commercial Steep Slope Roof Repair

McCarthy Stone Manor
This vintage building was Lemont's original school, built in the 19th Century. The most difficult aspects of this job were the height (with only limited access through a tenant skylight) and the roof pitch. The steeply pitched roof presented challenges, but was well within our area of expertise.
It was necessary to install permanent personal safety anchors to the roof structure in order to provide a safe working environment for our employees. We did so, bolting six watertight permanent units to the old post and beam structure.
Next we proceeded to service the fourteen skylights on the rooftops. All flashings and claddings were dis-assembled and reconfigured to waterproof factory specifications.
Three areas of roofing shingles were then replaced on the steepest main roof section. The height of the building contributes to the shingle loss due to the fact that the building sits atop a hill and is seven storeys high at the roof peak. The winds are really troublesome up there, even on relatively calm days.
The final repair work was applied at the air conditioner units' platforms, which sit between the buildings on the lower roof section. These platforms were constructed on top of the roofing membrane and nailed right through it. This is huge mistake on the part of the carpenters that built them. We flashed the legs of the platforms with our neoprene flashings and remedied 100% of the leakage on this building.
